“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” - Dr. Seuss
"A wonderful thing about a book, in contrast to a computer screen, is that you can take it to bed with you." - Daniel J. Boorstin
"Reading newspapers, magazines and blogs on my kindle allows me to step away from the computer and curl up on the sofa with a cozy blank and cup of tea, sit in a coffee shop or sit in the park for afternoon lunch. I love it!" - stephey
Others Love it too:
Stephey has such a way with words, and she always inspires me every time I visit! She makes you dig deep
and realize more of yourself with each word you read. She challenges me to be a better artist, a better inspirer, a better human being. She always inspires. This blog will be a shining light in your life... subscribe!
Marked by the Muse is a thoughtful and inspiring blog. I look forward to reading a new post every few weeks as they are ALWAYS uplifting, creative and extremely insightful. Stephey Baker has a way with words! I often feel like I am reading something from my journal or thoughts in my own head! To be able to read them though, the way she puts them together has allowed me to express what I feel but have been unable to until reading her writing. I've often heard the same said regarding music but for me it's her writing! To say the blog is inspiring does not do it justice and what I love is that it's not only inspiring but supportive as well - always giving me something to take away and apply to my own life as an artist and mom. Her writing is extremely motivational and uplifting always giving me a sense of I CAN DO attitude and that is so refreshing! I look forward to reading more and enjoy making this part of my weekly routine. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys being inspired and is creative - even if you think you're not creative but have always wanted to do something creative - read this and you'll find the motivation and the encouragement needed. Can't say enough good things about this blog! love it!

I feel doing my best to provide this support is part of my soul's purpose and so serve wholeheartedly to those ready to receive. Please know that many unpaid hours (more than is imaginable) are given in service to you and this blog. Maggie Franz of The Bees Knees wrote an inspiring post about claiming her Artistic spirit. Thank you Maggie for sharing your tender words.
"I internalized this sentence “I am an artist” and as it sunk in, tears welled in my eyes. I’m not some sap that just cries at the drop of a hat, but I have been struggling with what and who I am a lot lately." Visit to learn of a happy ending.
Jenny Petricek of The Starting Over Studio shared a valuable ah-ha moment. Thank you Jenn for adding your valuable voice to this worthy conversation.
"...Stephey's been discussing the idea of how we determine our true identities. In her eloquent wisdom, she contends that the process of finding out who we really are isn't a matter of searching for or adding new characteristics from outside ourselves, but that it's instead a task of subtraction, of finding out who we aren't, by identifying what doesn't fit or isn't working in our lives, and learning to let it go." Visit Jenn to be uplifted by her ah-ha!
